I guess you could say I was a fairly early adopter of recycling. I remember gathering loads of soda cans to take to “that place where they pay you pennies for them”. ;-)

And even when I was gathering my recycling to take to the recycle place 10 years ago, many thought I was wasting my time. But it has always been important to me. (Maybe I will write a diatribe on my interpretion of how that trait prolonged my natural packrat urge. But for now, we will stay on topic.)

So back 10-12 years ago I started trying to recycle when I could. But most curbside services had pretty strict limits. And ANYTIME I wanted to recycle mixed paper and/or paperboard, I had to drive it somewhere.

Then most of my time in Miami/Miami Beach was very UN-GREEN! At least at the time. It was VERY sad to me. Especially when I drive by the ONLY mountains in South Florida… landfills!

I had better luck in Fort Lauderdale. But only recently was able to include mixed paper.

I talked to a mom recently who told me that she started recycling anything and everything she could to help offset the diapers she’s using.
